On the eighth day of the games, Foxface was able to steal supplies from the career's pyramid and dodge the mines surrounding them, as Katniss Everdeen watched from the bushes. After Katniss blew them up, Foxface managed to find some salvagable materials, including a knife, while laughing to herself. After Claudius Templesmith announced that there would be a feat to provide the remaining six tributes with much needed supplies, inside a single backpac designated with their district number.
Foxface hid inside the cornucopia sometime before dawn, and rushed out to grab her bag before any of the other tributes could confront each other. Her bag most likely contained food. On the sixteenth day of the games, Foxface had become severly emaciated and was suffering from starvation.
She silently followed Katniss and Peeta Mellark, stealing just enough food from them to not be noticed. After Peeta collected nightlock, unware of its deadly poison, Foxface proved unaware as well, and.
Once she ate them, she was immediately killed from the strangulation effect of the deadly berries. After her canon sounded, Katniss momentarily mistaked hers for Peeta's death, but eventually figured out Foxface's crafty plan. Foxface placed 4th out of 24 tributes, an impressive feat for a tribute with such a low training score.
Katniss takes comfort in Rue 's presence and tries not to think about the fact that they can't both win the Games. She starts plotting ways to destroy the Careers' food supplies, knowing that they don't know how to be hungry like she and Rue do. Katniss wakes the next morning to the sound of a cannon going off. She can't help but think about Peeta. Rue has seen the Careers' camp and describes it to Katniss, how the Cornucopia is still there and their supplies are stacked in a pyramid about thirty yards away, protected by the boy from District 3.
Katniss thinks there's something wrong with this setup, but can't figure out what it is. Rue tells Katniss how she loves music, how in the fields when it's quitting time, she sings a song that the mockingjays deliver to the others below her. It's Katniss' mockingjay pin that tells Rue she can trust Katniss. Not only has Katniss forgotten about her pin, but she also hasn't seen the mockingjays and their nests all over the arena.
Rue teaches Katniss the signal that she'll sing to let Katniss know she's okay. Rue and Katniss separate. Rues will set fires to lure the Careers away from their camp, giving Katniss the opportunity to destroy their supplies. When she arrives near the Careers' camp, Katniss finds that the camp setup is, indeed, strange. She spies and overhears Cato say that they don't need to worry about Peeta anymore since he's wounded badly; then, when Rue sets the first fire, Cato, the girl from District 2, and the boy from District 3 leave to go hunt down the source.
Katniss tries to figure out why they would leave their supplies unprotected, and why the Careers would let the boy from District 3 live. Foxface was reaped into the Hunger Games as the female tribute from District 5 in the 74th Hunger Games. She was one of the few tributes Katniss took note of at the Reaping. In the Tribute Parade , Foxface waved nervously to the audience from her chariot, while representing her district 's main export power to the Capitol.
During the training session, she tested her knowledge of plants in a matching test, and she was seen completing it fast. Foxface received a score of 5 during her private training session with the Gamemakers. In the bonus features of the film, Foxface says that she is very smart, and that "no weapon can match a brain. She answered her questions fast and short. Katniss described her as being "sly and elusive. Like Rue, Foxface ran away from the Cornucopia bloodbath when she entered the arena as she had no weapons or supplies to help her.
In the film, Katniss and Foxface run into and knock each other over after running from the bloodbath. However, instead of fighting, the two of them scramble away, running off in different directions with scared expressions.
At the start of the games, Foxface and Katniss run in to each other and stay still for a few seconds. They then run in opposite directions. However, this only happens in the movie. Later on during the Games, she was spotted by Katniss at the Cornucopia near the Careers ' camp. After skulking around to make sure she was unidentified by any of the other tributes, Foxface made a variety of movements, which Katniss describes as a dance sequence.
Katniss soon discovers that the area was booby-trapped with land mines. In the book, Foxface had a close encounter with death as she landed wrong and squealed, but she instantly kept going. Foxface demonstrated her cleverness by figuring out the path into the Careers' pyramid of useful supplies, reaching the bulk of supplies, taking a small, unnoticeable amount of supplies, and then running back to the safety of the woods.
Katniss noticed a bag of apples hanging on the pyramid, which could well be some of the apples Foxface took from a burlap sack, and fired three arrows at it; the bag of apples ripped apart, fell, and set off the land mines. It caused a huge explosion after and destroyed all of the supplies. This resulted in the destruction of the Careers' supplies, and the District 3 male 's death by Cato 's hands. In the ruins of the explosion, Katniss saw Foxface laughing as she was able to find a knife blade and a metal pot.
At first, she didn't understand why but later came to the conclusion that with the Careers supplies destroyed, Foxface realizes that she might actually stand a chance of surviving.
At one point, Katniss thought of the possibility of letting her into the alliance she had built with Rue but quickly dismissed the idea due to the fact if she did, Katniss would only earn herself a knife in the back.
After several days in the arena, all the remaining tributes needed something desperately. Due to this, it is announced by Claudius Templesmith that there would be a feast. Foxface, as well as the other tributes, prepared herself for the upcoming event.
